The War In the Past and The War In The Present

Back when the U.S was fighting in Vietnam that mentioned a great deal on communists, now in today's times, you pretty much just here about terrorists and their plans for global domination based on their beliefs.
Since people back then checked their newspaper more, they would read headlines like "Communists Take Over Saigon", as you can tell it say communist on it so, you can tell it was a big deal back in the day. Today you read headlines on the net like "The War on Terror", which is pretty catchy but as always, the media makes it seem badder that it really is.

Vietnam War Interview

1. How old were you when the Vietnam War began?
  I was 12, I lived with my little brother and mom in Texas for a couple of years.
2. What do you recall when you turned on the TV or checked the news.
  Something about a war and people dying, I didn't like t.v back in the day.
3. What about your parents what did they say?
   Well my dad was an illegal immigrant from Mexico and during that time he worked over there for business purposes; he only visited during the summer. My mom would just try to ignore it and tell me that everything is going to be fine; that's how she lived life.
4. What did you tell your little brother about the war?
    Ha, since he was 8 and I 12, I use to tell him scary stories about wars and how they pick people randomly and used the Vietnam war as an example to scare him into keeping good grades in school.
5. If you were of age, would you have enlisted in the army or just let luck do its magic?
    Well, during that time I loved visiting Mexico so, if they ever called me, I would have bailed out and headed to Mexico until it was safe to come back... I hate wars.

Topic.11 Formative Assessment

MLK and Civil Disobedience- King argues that if a law is moral wrong then, people should not follow it, he believed in fair trails when it is fair.
Power of the "Mob"- When a whole group of people believe in a certain idea and a few people oppose it then, you will start seeing people getting violent because if most people are not happy generally something is going wrong.
Plessy v. Ferguson vs. Brown v. Board of Education-  In Plessy v. Ferguson people saw how unfair certain laws can be and how the rights of people are overruled, whereas in Brown v. Board of Education the people saw what was going wrong so they fixed it.
Civil Rights Goals- Mmeaningful civil rights laws, a federal work programs, and fair employment,  good housing, the right to vote, and mixed race education.
Eisenhower's Role in Little Rock- He send 101st Airborne Division to Little Rock in order to protect the African American from being hurt.
Rights of the Accused- People seem to lose some of their rights depending in the situation.
Chavez and the United Farm Workers- Helped Mexican American people get health in jobs and not to discriminate.

Louisiana Protest and the Little Rock incident

My reaction for the Louisiana Protest is that Louisiana made such a big deal about "black" kids beating up a white kid, when people don't get that rallied up when you hear of a black guy getting beat up white guys.
This connects to the Little Rock incident because it shows that people always tend to make a big deal about new things especially when race, sex or religion is involved.

A Little Bit of 1950's Sexism

 Just By looking at this retro 1950's ad one can infer that it is
pertaining towards females, after all the ad says that this refrigerator has been "femineered". Many new household appliances were targeted towards women because, they were mostly in charge of taking care of the house will the man went to work, your average old-school typical stereotype, right?

The Pride Behind the Frames

     Walking around the finely kept home, Willis the new inheritor of the house, spends time remembering how his family had served in many honorable American wars. He chuckles lightly looking at the picture of his great, great, great grandfather and the silly looking wig the people back then used to wear. He pauses for a second just thinking of how his great grandchildren will think of him, they may as well chuckle since he is wearing a thick metal helmet in his head, in his war photograph. "Ah yes, well at least I'm part of the soldier family tradition, The Heroes" says Willis as he places his own photograph along side his father, and his father's fathers.

Mcarthyism Impact on Society- People lost their jobs and some were blacklisted.
Communist "Witch Hunt" and impact on those accused- Some lost their jobs, passports taken away and some were even sent to jail.
Space Race Impact on government policies- Satellite communication, money spent on school education, space programs were introduced.
Cold War mind set for the United States Government and Public- Generally the public and government wanted to beat the Soviet Union on space exploration thus schools encouraged science and mathematics.
Relationship of suburbs, automobiles, and roads- Newly constructed Highways and roads linked them all.
Baby Boom- Period after WWII went the birthrate in the U.S rose dramatically.
Urban-Suburban Pattern- First you have the city which represents low income, then you have what people consider the ghetto (middle income), and after that would be the suburban (high income homes).
GI Bill- Finicail support for veterns, also includes job benifits and education.
Expansion of the Middle Class- Homes, cars, and Televisions were at a reasonible price so many people were able to purchase them (people during this time were making more money than in the past).

1. Women took the roles of men during World War II, from engineers, to postwoman and even some were accepted to fight in the WASPS (Women's. Air Force. Service. Pilots.).
2.The Japanese bombing on Pearl Harbor caused the U.S to develop the Atomic Bomb and use it on Japan two times.
3. The U.S foreign policy before the war was to create a trade called the NATO, during the war all Japanese were held in Interment camps,and after the war the Japs were let go free.
4.The effects on the war on Europe lead to a first a huge recession in all of Europe, then they organized a peace organization which takes care of European world affairs.
5.The effects on Pearl Harbor lead to, the U.S bombing the Japanese.
6. The Japanese were sent to Internment camps which were used to keep Japanese people from "terrorizing" the United States during WWII.

9. The purpose of rationing was to persuade Americans to buy a little of everything so that the supplies could go for the war efforts.

Shoah Foundation Reaction

When I first saw the first video I felt really sad when he mentions that his mom was a very beautiful women and to see her in the condition was very painstaking. I could not imagine my mom in that situation.

Then next video I saw was on how a women stated that when she helped men in a crematorium by supplied them with gunpowder, she also mentions that most of her accomplices died but they manage to blow up one of the crematoriums.

Alcatraz Prison

First of all the ironic part to the Alcatraz maximum security prison is that the word "Alcatraz" translates in Spanish to "white calla lily", which is the beautiful looking white flower. But generally when one thinks of Alcatraz they think of this dark island with an old haunted looking prison inhabited by grim looking prisoners who have committed horrid crimes.
The reason that the government thought the Alcatraz was inescapable was because it was about 1  1/2 miles away from any shore and was under constant surveillance 24/7.

Viva La "Free Speech"

Julian Assange fight for the transparency of the worlds governments is something that could affect all of us. When you open up a government its like you open a journal full of secrets, but in most cases these "journals" tend to be written in blood. From unheard of wars to unknown military failures, wikileaks released thousands of classified documents that show what really goes in our governments.

I believe there will be many more riots based on the content which this documents contain and that it is for a greater cause which can help us as a world to improve with the new found knowledge.

Now that people are starting to realize whats going on it's probably not going to end so easily, Assange has opened a new door to untold wonders and secrets and you know what they say "curiosity killed the cat".
