Today I pledged today to the our American people that we will not intervene militarily to overthrow Castro, this will help to avoid another unnecessary war.

I received a memo from John McCone, the Director of the CIA, warning that Soviet will be deploying medium range ballistic missiles will be deployed from within Cuba! This is a serious threat to the American people!

I wrote to Khrushchev today stating that we the U.S will not invade Cuba if, they agree to remove their missiles from there, this should settle things for now.
